Earth Day 2025 Fernhay: Inspiring Innovation with the Citylab eQuad

Earth Day 2025 Fernhay | Times Square with NYC DOT, DCAS & the Citylab eQuad

Earth Day 2025 Fernhay celebrated clean mobility, creative cities, and community engagement in the heart of Times Square as part of New York City’s annual Car-Free Earth Day, hosted by NYC DOT.

On April 26, the iconic stretch of Broadway between 42nd and 47th streets transformed into a lively open street — filled not with traffic, but with imagination. This year, Fernhay proudly joined city agencies and community partners to display the Citylab eQuad, a flexible electric urban utility vehicle designed to support municipal teams and local operations in dense city environments.

Representatives from the NYC Department of Transportation (DOT), DCAS (Department of Citywide Administrative Services), and several other departments stopped by to explore the eQuad up close and learn how Fernhay’s electric platform could support their daily work — whether in parks, facilities, or operations. Designed to navigate narrow streets and urban pathways, the Citylab eQuad drew attention from both decision-makers and passersby.

The day offered far more than tech — it was a celebration of culture, learning, and play. Two children’s stages came to life throughout the afternoon with interactive storytelling, music, and lively performances. Laughter and bubbles filled the air as kids danced to upbeat tunes while parents relaxed nearby with coffee and conversation.

Adding artistic flair to the occasion, the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs showcased public artwork by Caitlin Keegan, whose colorful project titled “NYC Art Stoop Letters” was installed nearby. Designed to evoke stoop culture and neighborhood pride, the artwork became a photo hotspot for eventgoers.

Across the plaza, community organizations like WE ACT for Environmental Justice sparked meaningful conversations about climate equity, while attendees wandered through pop-up installations hosted by recognizable names like Citi Bike, Lyft, and more. These partners helped round out a diverse landscape of voices committed to shaping a greener, more inclusive city.

For Fernhay, Earth Day 2025 Fernhay was more than an exhibition — it was a real-time dialogue. Throughout the day, we heard from fleet managers, sanitation teams, logistics coordinators, and even middle school students dreaming of a cleaner future. Some envisioned using the Citylab eQuad for mobile workshops, while others imagined it as a roaming tool cart, mobile office, or flexible street maintenance hub.

The environment was filled with thoughtful energy. From sidewalk chalk art to saxophone duets, there were constant reminders that the future of the city isn’t just electric — it’s collaborative, joyful, and full of possibility. Someone nearby joked that the Citylab eQuad looked like something out of a sci-fi movie. Another asked if it could carry paint buckets and cones for their local clean-up crew. That’s exactly the kind of curiosity we love to see.

We were especially honored to be among so many city partners who share our commitment to low-emission innovation. This year’s Earth Day 2025 Fernhay activation served as a reminder that progress happens not just through policy or prototypes, but through public connection and visibility.

🔹 What’s Next After Earth Day 2025 Fernhay

As spring continues, Fernhay looks ahead to the NYC Fleet Show on May 16, where we’ll connect with urban logistics leaders, showcase new vehicle adaptations, and continue advocating for smart, sustainable infrastructure in cities like New York.

As we continue to grow our footprint across cities, Fernhay is focused on building solutions that reflect the needs of both people and the planet. The Citylab eQuad, developed with municipal use in mind, reflects our dedication to real-world, low-emission transport. We look forward to expanding our impact through partnerships with city agencies, nonprofits, and companies that share our values around innovation and sustainability.

Events like Earth Day 2025 Fernhay remind us why we do this work. Cleaner cities begin with collaboration, and Fernhay is proud to be part of that journey. To explore more ways Fernhay is helping shape sustainable urban logistics, check out our post on AI-powered logistics in 2025.
